How to create a nourishing circle of friends
Time, food and deep breathing are all ways to bring more nourishment into our days. And I also like to think about people who make me feel nourished.
Think about the last friend gathering that you experienced. Did you leave feeling uplifted or drained...or somewhere in between? Are you a fixer for a particular group of friends, or do you feel appreciated and wholesome when in their presence?
These are questions to ask in order to assess if you are in nourishing company. Nourishing company leaves you with a smile on your face. Nourishing company provides more support than heartache. Nourishing company strives for authenticity over competition. Nourishing company is doing the work - not depending on you to do it for them.
To create more nourishing friendships, make a list. What are the attributes you would like to experience in a loving, nurturing friendship? List items might include joy, support, gentleness, kindness and mutual respect. Look for your list items in your present company and if not present, consider joining new circles and meetup groups to create new, more nourishing friendships.
And secondly, create new dates for your friends. Change the scene and see the response. One of my favorite new things is having friends over for dinner and following with a round Robin (pun intended) guided meditation. We get to experience each others special healing gifts and practice meditation in a fun, social setting! For you yoga teachers and healers, look to create events that foster connections and community. You are on the forefront of conscious relationship building.
I am so honored that you are a part of my online community and I wish you lots of love and healthy, nourishing company!
