One of the ways to assure that you’ll show up for meditation day after day is clearing the physical space to make it happen. I notice when my meditation practice loses its fire, my meditation and altar space is often dusty and lackluster. So here are some of my favorite tips for making your meditation space YOURS! Remember, your altar doesn’t have to be devout or overtly spiritual. I have small, plastic turtle figurines on my altar right now....turtles are one of my spirit animals. Invite into your space whatever makes you feel inspired and alive and a lil’ bit sassy!
Building an altar is easy as 1-2-3!
Choose a space that’s quiet and doesn’t have a lot of foot traffic
Assure that the space is 100% undisturbed. Maybe your space is a corner in your bedroom
Find a small table or bench
Place a scarf or cloth on top of your table
Adorn your table with paintings, photos, trinkets, crystals, written affirmations, candles, incense, and fresh flowers.
Place a blanket, yoga mat, or meditation felt in front of your meditation space
Refresh and spruce up your space at least once a month
And there you have it! Your very own special space to meditate.
I’ll see you next week for intention setting to prepare for our Summer of Meditation!
