Happy February Y’all!
I've been focused on self-care and self-study this winter, so I’ve retreated into my shell and discovered new ideas and inspiration! With that, I like to feel concepts in my bones before I share them with you (to make sure they work) so it’s been a good rest for me and I’m back to share with you
Lots of reflections these months on worthiness, physical strength, going back to the basics, plugging energy leaks, and creating space in my day for wandering. In the spirit of relaxation, I’ve decided to send an email just once a month for you to reflect on at your leisure.
It's no secret by now that the focus for this month is relaxation. “Relaxation is one of the most radical acts a person can engage in,” said Deborah Kern at her recent retreat in Costa Rica. “When you are relaxed, then you are grounded, and cannot be manipulated.”
Manipulation is a word that is thrown around - usually with the connotation that the other party consciously engages in the act. However, a manipulation is usually less premeditated. People’s egos will run on autopilot when unchecked, and when you're not relaxed or grounded, you get swept up.
Being relaxed and comfortable in your center allows for powerful alignment with what is true in your heart. And don't we all want to live from that special place?
Here's a practice that helps me schedule relaxation time: Get out a pen and paper and write down 10 things that relax you. Here are some of my favorites: singing, walks in the park, an afternoon matinee, a craft project, a long bath, and just time and space to wander. Make the commitment to do one of these activities once a week. This could be the most powerful meditation you ever do!
