“Through all the roles I play and take on, I must remember first that I am a soul. My heart shares the heartbeat of the earth” -unknown
After teaching a class the other day, someone said “I feel like you work a lot, Robin.” It made me laugh because I’m currently in a transition period where I do work a lot. I notice my ego getting puffed up “Look how hard I can work. Look how little rest I can get in order to achieve my goals.” My own ego is so funny to myself.
In the midst of working, I take on many roles. It’s as if when I travel into each workplace, I shift into another energy portal. Being sensitive, I can be prone to absorbing the identity of the place in which I spend the most time. Also, being prone to wanting to be accepted for doing a good job, I try too hard and morph myself into what I think others want me to be.
It’s really important to create space between what you are working toward, your individual, unique purpose, and who you are as an essence. You are always fully whole within each moment and what you do in your day-to-day doesn't change your essence. Your essence is eternal. Your day job is not.
Who you are is not identified or validated by what music you listen to, who you hang out with, what car you drive, where you work, or even the clothes on your back. Those are all expressions of yourself, but your true self is an essence, much more simple and subtle than all of those identifiers.
Your true self is a soft vibration, a heart connected to the earth’s heart and all the hearts of the universe. When you think of yourself in this context, you realize that you are so vast. You are the energy of the universe embodied and expressed in form.
